Port Moody summers used to be mild. They aren't anymore — 2021's heat dome hit 42 °C in the Tri-Cities, and most years now run 8–15 days above 30 °C. We install ductless mini-splits (Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu), multi-zone systems for two-storey homes, and central air retrofits across every Port Moody neighborhood. Every install includes proper sizing, refrigerant line set design, and condensate management — the three things that determine whether an AC actually works after year three.
Our recommendation almost always: get a heat pump, not just an AC. The price difference is small, the rebate stack is much bigger ($6,500–$11,000+ vs none for AC-only), and you get heating efficiency too. We'll quote both side-by-side. If AC-only is the right answer for your situation (gas furnace stays, panel is tight, short-term home), we install best-in-class with the same workmanship warranty.
Strata condo installs are a Port Moody specialty for us. Suter Brook, Newport Village, Aria, The Grande, Inlet Centre — we've worked with all the major property managers, we know which buildings allow which condenser types, and we handle the Form 2 modification approval. Heritage home installs (Glenayre, College Park) often pair with a panel upgrade — we quote both so you see the full picture.
What's Included
Free in-home assessment + Manual J
Proper load calculation — not back-of-napkin sizing. Oversized AC short-cycles, leaves humidity high, and wastes energy. Right-sized AC dehumidifies properly.
Multi-zone for two-storey homes
Heritage Mountain and Heritage Woods two-storey homes need 2–3 zones — main floor, master, kids' rooms. We design the layout for actual room-by-room cooling.
Strata Form 2 + property manager liaison
Suter Brook, Newport Village, Aria, The Grande, Inlet Centre — we provide spec sheets the strata needs and coordinate the modification approval directly.
Coastal / salt-air corrosion-resistant units
Pleasantside, Ioco, lower Heritage Mountain — we spec marine-grade coil coatings and elevated mounting. Standard units rust at the Inlet within 5–7 years.
Heat pump quote included
We always show you the heat pump alternative side by side. The price difference is small ($1,500–$3,000) and the rebate stack closes most of that gap.
10-year labor warranty
Industry-leading 10-year workmanship warranty plus full manufacturer warranty (typically 10–12 years parts, lifetime compressor).
Port Moody Climate + Housing — Why AC Sizing Matters
Port Moody microclimates vary more than people think. Heritage Mountain and Heritage Woods at 200m+ elevation see hotter daytime highs but cooler nights. Pleasantside, Ioco, and Inlet Centre at sea level on the Inlet stay cooler in mid-summer but more humid. Suter Brook and Newport Village concrete-frame condos store and release heat slowly, often staying hot late into the evening. We size each install for its specific microclimate, not a Vancouver average.
Two-storey heat imbalance is the #1 complaint we hear. Heritage Woods and parts of Heritage Mountain were built with single-zone forced air — meaning the upstairs runs 6–10 °C hotter than the main floor in summer. A central AC retrofit doesn't fix this; you need either a multi-zone ductless system (one head per floor or zone) or a properly designed dual-supply central system. We diagnose this on the assessment visit and quote the right approach.
Strata buildings have hidden install constraints. Suter Brook and Aria allow only certain condenser models with dB(A) ratings under 60 at 1m. Newport Village requires the condenser on a specific deck location. Inlet Centre buildings vary by tower. We've installed in all of them and we know the spec — it saves the client weeks of strata back-and-forth.

What Port Moody Homeowners Say
“Two-storey Heritage Woods home was unbearable upstairs every July. They installed a multi-zone ductless system — three heads — and finished in two days. Quiet, efficient, and they walked us through every control on the remote.”
“1998 build on Heritage Mountain — they installed a Mitsubishi heat pump, replaced the original ductwork sizing, and handled the FortisBC and CleanBC rebate paperwork. Got back over $7,000. Two-day install, zero mess.”
“Suter Brook condo — needed a replacement heat pump that fit the strata's exact spec for noise and aesthetics. They worked with our property manager, got the form 2 approval, and finished in one day. Very respectful of the building.”
